Does the 76 f150 have the same integral steering box and front axle that the 79 has. I know they were changed up on the f250 but not sure about the 1/2 ton model. Local sale of a 76 4X4, (bad body) and 79 2X4 (good body) for $600. Price sounds fair but want to make sure on the front end.

'76-'79 F150 4x4's had integral power steering.

IIRC the '75 F150 4x4 had power assist, as did the earlier '73-'75 F100 4x4's

 

Steering box and axle are the same on 76-79 4WDs... different is the steering linkage - 76&77s use the Y-style and 78&79s use the inverted T-style linkages. The latter is preferred.

Is that a 2-for-1 deal? If so, it sounds like a good marriage for a decent 4x4. Btw, keep the 76's title intact with the correct VIN and warranty/data plate.
