Rear Brake Caliper

I completed a rear brake job yesterday on a late model 99 F250 SD 4x4.
I was surprised to find that the driver side rear caliper had 2 bleeder screws.

This is the first time I have found two bleeder screws on a caliper. The replacement caliper had only 1.

My questions would be: Why the use of two bleed screws on a caliper? Has anyone else found two screws on their caliper while rebuilding the rear brakes?
Was the use of two bleeder screws a Ford caliper?

Thanks
Jeff

Because ford couldn't make up their mind if they wanted forward or reverse mounted brakes! (although I never seen one with 2 bleeders) I made 3 trip's to the parts store over the changed forward backward design. Something I never knew, or thought about, till the Napa Fellow asked me. Of course the truck was home, and we couldn't look.

The two bleeders allowed the same part to be used on both sides of the same axle. Interchangeability and fewer parts being manufactured was the reason.

The problem is that the aftermarket sees only one part number, and only makes one part with one bleeder screw, usually in the wrong place in my experience.

As far as I have seen, the 99 trucks have the same calipers on the rear, one mounted on the front of the axle and the other on the rear. I have yet to see one with 2 bleeders though.
