Just get the dizzy and wiring harness up to the box on the fender, I'll convert the rest to hei. Your coil that's there should be good, if not I have several of both styles.
I have the upper half of a early model 5.0 efi, I was going to use on a 4.9 project, your welcome to it if you want to go with efi
Ok, So from what I can tell from the filter up into the motor, the return line was never disabled. here is a pic of the regulator with the lines attached to it. From what I can tell the return line in the one on the right.
The line on the right which i assume is the return line I can follow back through the foil heat shield wrap, down last the filter, (pictured here) You can see my hand on the fuel line i assume because it is the one that is attached to the filter.
return line runs past the filter, and past this thing ( which i think you said is the actual high pressure pump)
and then the return line goes into the canister looking thing. As you can hopefully see in the pic, but whatever it is it appears that both the fwd and return lines go into this thing. Both tanks because one set of lines stop and are crimped off where the saddle tank would be.
Ok guys I disconnected the high pressure pump and just have the low pressure pump in the tank going. I took the supply and return lines off of the regulator and had my wife tur the key to see how fast the flow was comming out of the supply line. I dont have a pressure gauge yet but from what you guys can see in this video is this still too much pressure and am I going to need a regulator?
Hey guys. I got a fuel pressure gauge and it's the typ that screws into a "T" in the fuel line to monitor pressure. I was wondering if I can screw this on to the end of the fuel line to see what the pressure is or do I have to ahve the "T" inline to use it?
Since you are not using the return line, you could just put on end of line and see what it comes up to. Just be dead heading into gauge.
If you see it is 10#, then run it through regulator and put gauge on other side to see if you can dial it down to 5-6#. If so, then you're good to go there.
So just making sure i'm right here....if I can get it dialed down to 5-6# I can go ahead and run it right to the carb. And there is not going to be a need for the return line?
AH HA!!!!! Finally....Correct me if I'm wrong here guys but isn't this the plate where a mechanical fuel pump would go??? And if so wouldn't it simplify things with the fuel lines and stuff to just go ahead and install a mechanical pump and run a new fuel line back to the tank?
Welp here is a little update. I finally got around to getting a mechanical fuel pump and all new fuel lines, supply and return. Going to attempt to do this sat. Now I need to drop the rear tank to get the the sending unit on top and connect the new line up. Any advise on disconnecting the low pressure pump? Does it simply have a haness type connector that can simply be unpluged? And by unpluging this will it kill my gas gauge?
