I was happy to see that too. I used to use Baldwin in everything but the store that sold them here closed and I had to shift to NAPA Gold (wix)

I have no problems run'n WIX. Been doing it since owning my truck (7/10). I dig Fleetfilter because the prices are a 1/3 of that at NAPA, plus, with all my by-passes, bowl filter and wvo filters...i put my list together at xmas, and wake up with a box full that'll last another year...

Posted it, seeing if the Baldwins being sold there, was cheaper then the vendor they're going to now.

Most certainly not saying WIX were bad. They are right up there in the top tier of filter manufacturers. I just have always preferred baldwin. Kind of like pepsi vs coke.

Sorry guys, on the 6637 at least, Clay is still cheaper. Even if I spend $125 at Fleet Filter to get 10% off, they are still more than Clay is if I buy 1 filter: Riffraff Diesel: 6637 Replacement Filter

We are thinking about having a fall sale as well on the 6637 filters soon so that will help out even more

Clay's definitely got an edge on pricing, but some of the non-oem bypass filters are not in his list of stock items, so I typically find those online. For both Racor and Baldwin filter elements, both DieselFiltersOnline and B-line Filters have generally been good sources for me..

while on this topic, quick question. I have the WIX fuel filter in now and the WIX cap. Will that cap accept the baldwin or motorcraft filter element or should I get a new cap to go with the new filter.

I'm glad to see this. I dont like WIX. Not at all. And thats the main reason I havent ordered from them, because otherwise I would, they have great prices. Look at the specs of a WIX 7.3 fuel filter vs a Motorcraft one.. No bueno.

Motorcraft is 10 microns at 98.6% (absolute per the SAE) with water stripping of 93-96%.

Donaldson P550437 is 5 microns at 95%, like 6-7 absolute with 94-97% water stripping.
Baldwin PF7698 is 9 absolute with similar water stripping.
WIX filter is 14 microns nominal (50%) and unknown water stripping.

Good info, Trey. Thanks for those details.

We all also need to keep in mind that the Motorcraft fuel filter is actually a Racor filter element (PFF-4596) but is less than 65% the cost of the Motorcraft labelled part. Also, the Parker specifications ofr the PFF4596 is 7 micron filtration at 99% water stripping.

Baldwin number is B7039 for the main oil filter (as opposed to the many different vendor options for bypass elements).
