F250 4r100 slow to shift into forward gears, solenoid problem? other?
Hi guys, first post, have been using tutorials and discussion information for years... thanks!
I've seen a few posts about my problem, but no definitive answers, so here goes:
I have a 2000 f250, 2wd, 5.4 when I shift from P N to D 1 2 the transmission takes its sweet time getting into gear, the first time I drove it I took my foot off the brake and went jerking forward. Other than that it works fine, just that initial lag. I've been searching high and lo and can't seem top find what I'm looking for.
Is this a solinoid pack issue? Common fluid filter problem? Any help much appreciated, my compass is spinning so if you've got a direction to point me in, please do!
Thanks!

How long is a sweet time? 2 seconds is normal. Does it go into reverse faster? Does it do this every time, or just first time in the morning?
The first thing to check is the fluid level. Check it after driving at least 10 miles, idling in park.
If the fluid level is normal the next thing I would check is line pressure. You'll need a 0-350 PSI gauge with a 1/8" NPT thread. There is a test port on the driver's side of the trans that this will thread into. I don't have the chart of pressures, it's around here somewhere.
