September 2014 BS Thread

Found some more rust in my '53 cab. I had to order another cab corner, one I replaced about 22 years ago. I'm thinking it wasn't rinsed properly after the hot dip and some of the caustic soda solution ate it up.

Maybe it's a good thing they don't hot dip car bodies any more.

Thanks for the BS thread for the month, Ken. I've been busy between work and other things and haven't been on too much this past week.

No problem. It's a group effort.

Work has dropped off a little these past couple weeks. I got my driveway poured a couple weeks ago. Been wanting to do that for years. Finally was able to afford it. And I'm still fighting a vibration in my 08. It's been on the road for a couple weeks, but 60mph shakes bad. Going to take it to the shop I bought the tires at. I believe one of them is out of round. I've replaced one rim 3 times, and it still shakes. Tells me that it's the tire.

John, is this a front wheel or rear? If it's rear, is there any chance you have a bent axle?

It's the service truck I drove down to your place for the last meet. Since it has an open rearend, I raised the passenger side up and spun the wheels with the engine. No vibration. On the drivers side it shook bad. Pulled the wheels off and it was gone. Put one wheel on and it was fine. Put the other on and it shook. Bought new rim, new tire today. And it still vibrates.

Are you sure the dual wheels are seating together properly? We had this problem with an Isuzu box truck. It turned out to be two different kinds of wheels and they didn't match up exactly.

They are all brand new Ford rims as the old ones were bent, pretty bad too. But the vibration is still there. I'm going to pull the hubs and see if that shows anything. I do already have a wheel seal leaking a little already. I hope I find a problem there! Stinks putting everything back on my old truck.

You boys ready for the cool down? Seems today is projected to be the "last day" of hot weather.

Fall is definitely upon us!

The Autumnal Equinox is less than two weeks away.

yup.

I've got 48 hours of work to do this week, starting tonight @ 16:45 til 07:00. Same for tomorrow and Thursday.

Any news on a possible day for a meet/greet? Doesn't even have to be a huge thing, etc. Could meet up at a restaurant (Like John and I did, with Kory in Morehead)

Just would like to enjoy a good meal with some friends and have a little fun.

I've got a lot of things going on right now. Kids with soccer, karate, and basketball starts this week now! A wedding in a couple weeks, (Lisa's brother), and her big campout the weekend after that.

Still trying to find the vibration in my 08, but I now have something else to look at. The hardware kit in the rear brakes is very loose. Going to replace that and see if that makes a difference.

So, what do you do in your spare time?

Cut grass, clear brush, grass off the hill behind the house. Sleep!!! Surprisingly, I haven't a job today. Hopefully the hardware kit for my brakes come this afternoon. Then I can test out my theory as to what's causing the vibration in my truck.

Good luck with that John. Hope it solves the problem. Minor annoyances suck to track down. Squeak here, shimmy there.
