Ain't a soul going to believe this until you post a picture of the door tag.

Possible it says that but wouldn't necessary make it correct for that truck.

For example my 94 F250ies door sticker shows a GVWR rating of 6250# however the trucks GVWR is 8600#, it has the cab from a F150 on it now.

Perhaps someone at some point and before the op bought it, put the cab from a F250 on it?

Then that extra 50 comes into question tad bit, F250 standard cab = 8600#, same truck with an extended cab = 8800# no "50" tacked on to it?

Nothing odd about it that's an F350.. everything below the body of an F150 is much smaller and lighter. My truck is right at 5k on the dump scales.

That's my thought, no F150 from this era has a GVWR that high.

IIRC the highest an F150 ever went was 7700 for the LD F250/ F150 7700 in the late 90's.

And that is what I figure a super cab F150 to weigh if a reg cab weighs 4400

i think the tag isnt original. everything on it is right though except the gvwr part of it. ford said today that my gcvwr is 6450. so i can tow only 2200lbs? seems pretty wimpy to me. still not sure how much payload i can have though

What gear ratio do you have?!?!? THAT is the deciding factor we need to know. On the door jam sticker under AXLE it will have a letter and number

...or a two-digit number if the rear axle has an open differential.

Just to add numbers into the weights of trucks and stuff, my F250 with a toolbox full of chains, stereo equipment, and the monstrosity of a bumper on the front weighs in at 6100lbs without me in it.

Sounds like you have the "weekend warrior" F150. I'd feel confident towing an average size fishing boat, a pair of sleds, or a utility trailer with that set up, but nothing really large or heavy.

I had a 300 a couple yard ago and hated it the. 302. Will will smoke the 31s in it all day long. I am not sure if maybe they changed the gears . But its much stouter thatn the 300i had. That truck made power early but ran outta steam to quick and got stuck everywhere. Total boat anchor
