after market cam

That's a loaded question.MUCH more info is needed.Regarding cam lift to retain pedestal style rocker arms, you will be safe with a 0.535" lift. For cam specs such as duration, lobe separation and intake centerline, you need to know:vehicle weight, intended use, gearing, tire size, auto or manual trans, compression ratio,etc...Camshaft manufacturers are your best resource for cam choice. Also look to custom cam grinders.460ford.com is a good source for vendors.

You're best to stay with a short duration cam to help build cylinder pressure.Likely has 8.5-1 compression ratio or less.Free flowing exhaust with headers(longtubes) will help alot.I like the Comp Cams 4x4 grinds.Short duration, dual pattern cams for lots of low RPM torque.Look at 34-2321-4.It has 210/218 deg. duration @.050 lift which is great for low end power. It's hard to be humble with cam selection. With all stock engine, gearing, conveter,CR,and valvetrain, you're best to stay conservative with duration and lift.
