buying a 1942 Ford P/u

Hi, First day, first post. Apologies if I'm in the wrong place. I'm in the process of buying a 1942 Ford P/u. It was owned by a film company and they have lost the registration. Can you help me by telling me where on the vehicle that I can find the serial #, so I can get a new registration? I am in Langley BC, Canada.
I purchased the truck that was used in the film TinMan, a remake of the Wizard of Oz

Welcome to the club. Your s/n should be on the top left side of the frame between the cab mount and the steering mount. If it's a CDN truck it might also have a data plate screwed to the firewall. Wish you luck.

x2 drivers side frame right by the steering box.. might have to use some dish saop and brillo pad to remove the oxidation/rust to see it. take a white crown and rub the area.. then wipe it clean with a towel and it will leave the wax from the crown in the set marks from the factory.. easy to read after that point..

Thank you all. Took a while, but finally got the truck. I am not a mechanic, not handy with tools and am looking for advice. I would like to change out original brakes and have someone install disc brakes on front and new brakes on the rear. Can anyone give me a ballpark $ figure? I will not be doing it myself, I need to farm it out. 1942 Ford flat deck 1 (3)? ton. also does this vehicle have widowmakers? I'll probably have to put on new wheels and rubber if it does

What model is the truck? One ton, three ton? Pictures would help guys aim you in the right direction, and as said, finding the frame and/or bell housing stamped serial number is the absolute answer. No matter which model, a 1942 truck did not begin life with widow maker Firestone RH-5° wheels. But, depending on which model it is, they could have been substituted at some point over the years of prior ownership. Again, pictures would help. Stu

Welcome. Why can't the people you got it from just go in and apply for a duplicate title?
I don't know Canada laws but I've had people come down here and buy vehicles just to get clean paper because it was so difficult (I was told)

I also extend my welcome! I'm not too far away. Can you post a picture? Also there should be a letter designation near the front of the serial number. If I'm not mistaken, the letter Y designates a one ton. Like 81Y#####
