Well I don't know, maybe it wasn't the right term to use.
It uses electric solenoids commanded by the PCM to control shifts, but aside from that command and an EPC it is mechanically controlled with springs, check *****, and valves.
Like I said though, I'm no expert if I was I wouldn't be paying to have mine built.

Now that I don't use the Princess as a DD, thinking about doing some rear-end upgrades to help out when pulling the man cave. Mainly extra leaf springs from a F350 and air bags.I bet if someone ordered one...they support/sale one.

So what uses the 6R? I thought the F250 through F550 models use the same engine/tranny combinations. Only the axles, springs and rims/tires change the heavier you get...the F250/F350 being the exception, everything except the rear springs are the same.

I thought we were talking transmissions? 6r transmissions are in the '11+ trucks. 5r's from '03-'10

Does anyone in this chapter really know what their talking about? But I think I see where I corn-fused you in my last post.Ok, now I'm following what your saying. The 6.0 & 6.4 use the 5R; and the 6.7 gets the 6R. What I was talking about truck models is the F250 through F550 use the same engine and I thought tranny...only the axles/rear springs and tires change between the models. The exception being the F250/F350 and other than an extra leaf spring in the rear they're the same truck. And that has been since at least '99 when FoMoCo went to the SD body. Of course if your talking about the DRW F350 they've got slightly different axle hubs/ratios and those fiberglass parts ()....but the frames, engine/tranny, and rims are the same.

Tell one joke and it shuts the monthly thread down. Joe, after seeing your Halloween costume from a couple of years ago (Scottish)...Pretty sure I don't even want to know what your doing this year. I've been thinking of pretending to be a locomotive engineer...but then I realize I do that all the time; the pretending part that is.This sounds like the being of a science project that ends up going wrong. And I'm pretty sure it's illegal in certain counties. But if you have the spare goats....

I plugged in the superchips flashpaq this evening to let it update and they have added "Advanced Data Acquisition" -- I think I'm gonna have to go outside and plug it into the truck to see whats this is all about.

Actually, i would rather waste the helium on the billy goat. He is worse than a box of rocks. Maybe 2 tanks to be safe?
