South Dakota doesn't use nearly as much salt/chemicals as Nebraska and Iowa do. I pick up more crap on my vehicles in the 8 miles in IA and 6 miles in NE I have to drive to get to work, than my 20 miles to the border.

Well, with only 12 people living there, you don't need as much.....
Omaha is horrible for salting the roads. I"d be happy just going without. What's the difference: Someone sliding into you because it's icy, and denting a fender, or the salt eating the whole damn vehicle.
