Scarey Moment - input on problem needed

Traveling at 65/70 on beltway - slightly ease up on accelerator and feel and heard a hard thump - did not run over anything. The second time it did it the Check Engine light came on. only 5 miles from the house so I ran her to the drive way and shut it down. Flipped key back on and the service engine light did NOT come on. Would it hold a code if I take it to PEP Boys for a reading?

Any clue what might cause this?

=================

btw - last week during the heavy rain it acted like it was starved for air and shut itself down at 2 traffic lights. Kept the rev's high and got it home without any other issues

Has the water in fuel light ever come on?

I susspect you have a bit of water in the fuel, and it caused a hick up. That would give you a temporary CEL, and clear once the key cycles.

No idiot lights are on - just filled up at a station that moves a lot of fuel - so hopefully that will help too. http://youtu.be/TwXwV_WQ-pE I'll change out the fuel filter ASAP and see if that helps any

A little dreary out this morning. On the bright side of things my truck should be in my driveway this afternoon. hopefully. I had it out with this guy last night and he said he had to shut down for a while to deal with personal issues and I told him I cant keep waiting so Either he brings me the truck or I go and get it. I dont care if it's not done, He loses out. I will figure it out or find someone thats actually reliable to finish it up.

That's sucks that you have to go through that crap. Sounds like this guy needs to find a new line of business.
