I usually hang out over in the 6.0L forum but I just picked up a '95 Ranger XLT Supercab I4 5spd 2wd the other day. The only thing that is wrong with it is the Odometer and trip meter dont work and the ABS light is on. The speedometer works absolutely perfect with no hiccups in probably 100 mi of driving. The guy i got it from said it has been this way for about a year.

I was thinking that maybe the VSS on the rear dif may be to blame but i really dont know how the rangers are setup. I did a bit of reading through post and seen that the speedo run off the trans and the odo runs off the speedo via an electric motor. The ABS is read from the Dif VSS. Anyone have any idea what the problem is? I was thinking maybe the gear to the odo and trip may be broken or something. I am away from the truck til sunday and trying to order some parts so i can fix it on the one day im back in town. Thanks guys.

 

Does anyone have an understanding of the speedometer/odometer system in these trucks? I was hoping someone might be able to lead me in a direction either good or bad haha.

Im truely surprised that no one has responded in 3 days. I guess this section doesnt have many knowledgable helpful people. Too bad i was hoping to get the support like on a lot of the other sections of this website.
