I got my truck running today and noticed that the tranny fluid is very low. I have a 53 f100 with the fordomatic. I read on another forum to use either Mercon II or III but I found a quart of type F under my seat...

My thinking is that there is probably type F in the transmission currently. What should I do?

well it used to be type A, but that is no longer available, use type F

 

I use type FA. Available at my locale Napa. This in a 55 Town Sedan.

I do not recommend using Mercron or Dextron anything. Type FA only. Although I believe Type F will work. But not with a full fluid change.

I rebuilt transmissions for a living. Just saying.
