The new leaf springs is good but all you need is a leveling kit. They range from 1" - 3" anything more is a full suspension left of 4-6" and quickly goes over $1500.
Well a lift would just level the truck too so now I am confused as to what you want. You said you wanted to lift it no more then 3" so that is a level because the rear is already lifted that much in comparison to the front.

+3 inches front, +3 inches back, thats still keeping the back higher than the front like stock.
i havent looked at the suspension from a newer truck, so im not sure if this could work:
but how about a leveling kit to raise the front 3 inches, new leaf springs in the rear plus an add- a leaf, plus a larger block? that should be close to 3 inches both front and rear. and you should be able to keep your stock shocks and coils and i think the steering can be kept stock but not sure.. if you went with a 4" or bigger lift that will be over $1000 and youll probably be completely changing all suspension parts
the leveling kit might throw off your alignment, but like i said i dont know much about the newer trucks so i cant be sure
Adding 3" in the front is great but 3" more over stock in the rear is not possible without other changes.
I have a 3" level in the front and a 1" block in the rear which gives it a slight rake from front to rear. I could of added a add a leaf in the rear but not both the leaf and a block that would of thrown off the drive shaft too much and caused more problems.
So this is why i am confused. Anything over 3" level would be a 4" lift and would change or replace the suspension parts.
I did a level in mine, 2.5 inch hell bent steel. The install went smoothly and i didn't do an alignment right away, i waited a week and a half until i got the new rubber and aligned it a few days after that. Before the alignment it still ran down the road straight as an arrow, but it did after. The toe needed corrected and was done during the alignment. I'd recommend the alignment as the tires will wear better. The only thing now is the rear sits about .25 inches lower than the front but isn't really noticeable. The best thing about a level is the truck pretty much rides the same as before.
Coskid, did you just put a spacer in the front and a block in the back? Anything else that you had to deal with besides an alignment?
I have a 3" strut extension in the front and 1" block in the rear yes. Then just aligned and was done. Had more alignment issues when I installed the new wheels then when the level was done.

i actually dont want to level it. I tow my boat a lot and hate that nose to the sky look ....
You should look into airbags for the rear of your truck and get a 2" leveling kit for the front. Total cost would be about $500-$800 depending on if you do any of the work yourself or not. This would give you the lift you are looking for in the front and eliminate the issue with the nose up when towing.
