Key locked in 1998 Explorer...any suggestions?
Hi folks -
Newbie here. I have a 1998 Explorer Eddie Bauer that I purchased as a spare car in August.
A few days ago, I left for vacation, and gave the key (the only one I had) to my girlfriend (she wanted to use it while I was away). When she was done using the truck, she placed the key under the floor mat, and never bothered telling me this.
As you may have surmised, I locked the door.
The car DOES have the keyless entry pad on the door, but I do not know the code. And again, I don't have another key for the car (this will teach me to get a spare key made up).
Is there any way that I can find the code for the keypad? I've seen some postings stating that it's on the back of the radio...but again, I can't get into the car.
Short of busting out the driver's window, and making her pay for a new one, is there anything I can do?
Thanks,
Steve

You could call a locksmith and have the slim jim their way in for a fee. The dealership may be able to pull up the factory keypad code for a fee. The fee to get the code from the dealer may be more than what the locksmith would charge to unlock the door, and most likely would cost less than a new window and cleanup time.
