Hey guys, lets slow down here and make sure a couple of basics have been covered. When your talking about failed LPOP and lifters your talking about some serous issues with this engine. I guess I over looked it in the thread...but did you say you had someone crank the engine over while you looked to see if the oil filter housing would fill with oil? Even if the drain valve isn't closed (with either filter or screwdriver) the LPOP will pump more oil into that housing faster than it can drain away. The LPOP is turning/pumping as long as the engine is turning over. It's geared to the crankshaft, so even if only the starter is doing the turning the gear pump is moving oil. As Benny suggested, if your not getting oil in the filter housing when the engine is cranked over...I'd check the pressure regulator down on the front left of the engine. At that point after cleaning the regulator and your still not getting oil...you'll need to see if the gears in the pump have been chewed. That's pretty much the only known LPOP I've seen/heard of for this engine; and your better off getting a long block than trying to fix it yourself. This is assuming the pump has failed, not common but it has happened.
If your getting oil to the filter housing...time to go back to the top of the engine and figure out if your ICP or IPR could be keeping HPO from firing the injectors. Somewhere in one of these three threads you made the comment that you couldn't smell diesel in the exhaust. You shouldn't smell any if the injectors aren't getting the command to fire. This isn't a carburetored gas engine...the fuel isn't there if there isn't enough high pressure oil to fire the injectors and the FICM tells 'em to fire. Unlike old school injector pump equipped diesel engines...there is no cam lobe for the injectors to fire on the 6.0; they're completely electronic. You really need to get a good code reader if your getting oil in the filter housing. Otherwise your shooting in the dark & doing things the hard way. These engines will help you diagnose what's wrong with them if you have the right tool (code reader) to get the information. Since you say you've shelled allot of money into this truck...have you checked the NC chapter yet?
its not getting oil to the filter housing but like i said the mechanic said it wouldnt till it gets the pressure built up but ive never heard of the chapter......what is that

The NC chapter is basically a group of FTE members (both those that are paying supporters those that aren't) that live in North Carolina. Here is their state chapter thread:
If I were you, I'd post a message in the monthly thread stating where in the state you live and asking if there is someone near you that might be able to help out. If your really lucky there might be another 6.0L owner near by; but they don't have to be another PSD (PowerStroke Diesel) owner. You might find someone that owns a SG2 or even an AE with Ford Enhanced Bundle who could give you a hand. Either one of those scan tools will help you scan the truck for codes and in the case of the AE run a couple of test to rule things out. At this point, I say you have nothing to loose to see who might be near you.

By pushing down on the valve all your doing is keeping the oil from draining back into the engine. You didn't have to use a filter, but hey it works and that's all that matters at this point. But if the LPOP (low pressure oil pump) is filling the housing...then that pretty much rules out everything on the bottom end; which is a good thing.
now im not sure about the volume but its pumping at a pretty good pace..i got a guy that has a scanner that plugs to his laptop and tells everything..im gonna get him to come over tommorrow and see if it tells if theres a sensor or something.

thats good news^^^
get these sensor values at KOEO and Crank so 2 values for each some may only report during crank FWIW
