Today I brought my overhead compass mpg dte gauge in to an electrical shop who generously soldered both sides of all 4 of the resistors? That I've been told are the problem, and had cracks in the solder.
I put it in and the compass worked for a few minutes then shut off again! The connection looks good I wiggled the harness and wires and they seem fine, it doesn't flash on when wiggling.
I'm out of ideas? Anyone else know of possibilities to check?
Without a schematic of that circuit board there is probably not much you can do. I see them pop up on E-bay from time to time as well as repair services. Send yours in, see if they can repair it.
FWIW I have re-soldered mine twice in the last few months. I have been in medical electronics for 27 years, I know darn well how to solder....the quality of the circuit board and components leaves a lot to be desired.
