Instrument cluster, tail and fog lights wil not work. All other lights seem to work properly. Brake, turn signals headlight high and low beam all work. The in dash warning lights, radio. ac and the gauges work. Cluster. tail lights and the fog lights just stopped working. I have checked the fuses and pulled the switch. Nothing I can see is chaffed or broken. I searched through the X and SD forums and have not found a solution. Lots of lighting issues but not the same combinatio of cluster and fogs. Any assistance appreciated.
The board in the fuse block is probably bad. Fuse is getting power in, but its not getting the power out the backside of the block. Check the wires behind the block. You will have to pull it out some to get to the back wires. If no power is coming out the back then you know the answer. Its around $300 for a new fuse block from Ford. They do come fully loaded though with all the relays and fuses.
I had a nice Gremlin today also. I Started my 05 X with a 6.0L and noticed the AC was off and display was blank. It wouldn't turn on to save my life. Jiggled the key, nope. Smacked the dash, nope. Turned on the headlights, yep. Fixed it.
I think it is a common problem. Mine caused similar seemingly unrelated electrical failures. Took 6 weeks to get one from Ford. Only 10 were made last quarter. I bought one from Craigslist and it worked out.
I never turned off my AC display. The one time I did it would not come back on for several days. Then one day it just magically worked again and I was scared to touch it.
