1993 Ford changed VSS and now speedometer went crazy
I have a 1993 Ford F150 302 motor. The abs light was on in the dash and the speedometer worked perfectly.
Replaced the VSS, simple job...One bolt One Electrical Connector.
After replacing the VSS, the speedometer started jumping around above 50 mph. Thought I had a bad sensor so I replaced it again. Same result..it is reading 1900 ohms at the pins on the VSS.
Must be someone where else...Any ideas. The connector looks solid, but I did notice some oily substance in the connector. Used a high dollar electrical parts cleaner(and let it dry) to clean the connector. But the speedo is still jumping around.
So the new VSS took off the ABS light and screwed the speedo up. I tossed the other VSS so that is not an option to return to it. Need to get in the hills and do some deer hunting...Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Let me guess, Borg Warner VSS, or AutoZone Duralast? Maybe Wells? Yeah, go get a Motorcraft one. None of those first three can make a good CPS sensor for a PowerStroke, and the VSS on these things is a fairly closely related design.
