88 f150 dead spot in acceleration
I'm running out of problems on my new 88 f150.
All code problems have been fixed. Now I'm focusing on the smaller issues.
Truck runs great - except...
When accelerating from a stop - I press on the pedal and move along fine until I get up around 10/15mph or so - the engine runs kind of rough and lacks power (no tach, so I can't tell you the rpm range) - push the gas further and it doesn't too much...
... keep pushing... nothing - a little more... then boom it jumps up a few hundred rpm and runs smooth, but sets you back in your seat a little.
Best way I can describe it is a dead spot.
I can avoid it by just stomping on the gas from a stop and skipping over the dead spot - but not the answer I'll looking for.
I had replaced the accelerator cable for other reasons, and it operates smoothly.
I can't see if it's actually opening the throttle smoothly since my legs aren't long enough to push the pedal and view the throttle plates at the same time.
Timing was set properly. New coolant temp sensor - new egr valve. new plugs/wires/cap air filter. Fuel pressure in the correct zone.
Just starting to dig into this problem, but figured I'd check here to see if there any suggestions.
Thanks.
