Rear Disc Swap from 2000 8.8" Rear to a 73

My question is i've got a friend who has a 2000 f150 rear end 8.8 inch rear disc brakes.

I was wondering if the brackets calipers and rotors would fit on a 73 9 inch rear.

Has anyone out there done this or attempted this project ?

Thanks chuck

I'm pretty sure they won't fit onto the axle tube, and I KNOW the rotors won't fit onto the lugs or inside the 15" rims.

But you can swap the whole new axle under the old truck - the 8.8" is every bit as strong as the 9", and probably more so. If you want the F&R rims to match, have the front hubs drilled for the new lug pattern and get a set of new 16" rims & tires. That's what I'll be doing when my current tires wear out.
