New to board and help needed

I am new to the board as of today. Been searching for some help in trouble shooting my 2003 F150 4.6 that my son has in Wichita at school. Long story but I'll keep it short. It won't start for him. We tried to get it running when I was out visiting a week ago but no go. It will crank, fuel pump seems to be kicking in but won't turn over.

He had a friend bring a code reader over and nothing showed up on it. I'm at a loss and 1300 miles away. Do any of you guys know of a good wrench we can have it towed to in Wichita.

I know this my first post but I'm at wits end trying to help him get back and forth to school. Don't want him or I to get ripped off on a repair.

Thanks for reading this and for any help.

I am sure its already been done, but maybe have him check all fuses, under the hood, and inside the cab.

Did it die on the road, or parked and won't start?

What have you tried?

Spark?

have you checked fuel pressure, or abscence of fuel pressure?

Relays?

Clint? any ideas? (he is our guru, one heck of a smart fella!)

We checked for fuel pressure, pump works, doesn't seem to be getting spark. He just got to his apartment, parked it, went inside and came back out, no start.

We changed the crank sensor and checked all the fuses. We had limited tools the day we were there so we couldn't do too much.

Does it have an alarm or anti theft on it? If it has anti theft the chip in the key maybe bad or if he has a spare key might try it.

I will send him the spare in the mail today. I didn't want him to have both because he sometimes loses things. Thanks.

The key should get there today. I'm hoping it does. I'll post the outcome when I hear from my son.

We used to have a board member work at Beards 66 Beards 66 in Wichita | Beards 66 (316) 684-0116 & 6402 E Central Ave, Wichita, KS 67206 | <Automotive/Repair & Service/All> - Yahoo! US Local
He passed a few years ago. They are not low cost but I have had work done by them before.

Yes it was, and I really do appreciate the help. I will get the address to my son and see what he wants to do. Again, thanks to all of you that offered suggestions.

If it ends up needed a tow to a good mechanic let us know- There is a good one in Newton (John Horn Horn's Automotive)-- We can get his truck there if needed.

Could be the coil pack- they go bad allot - but it woulod surely throw a code if it was that.

Clint had a wire on his alternator that needed "wiggled" causing one of their rigs not to start.

Son finally got it to a shop today. They are saying the motor is gone. Of course, he doesn't remember what all they said but did say the timing was off and there was some bad noises coming from the top end.
