A Quick Ferret timing meter demonstration video
I shot this yesterday as well. I know it would have helped me the first time I used mine, so I thought I'd throw it out there.

Again good luck,
Mac.

what a simple and slick way to time 'em uh? just turn the fuel pulse into a spark pulse with a little device.
i kinda miss my snapon lumy meter, but at the same time,i like doing it like this too.just as long as we can read and set it,get's it done.
don't ya wish you had a computer like the PSD so you didn't have to do this old school crap anymore? ........nah,neither do i

it's not a timing meter.its a pulse conversion box if you will.converts the fuel pulse sent from the ip,and converts this pulse of fuel to a spark pulse that a timing light (with advance) can use.then you just line up the TDC mark (and set your advance function on the timing light) and line them up.slick little bugger.

Thanks guys, Like I said I had everything out already, and I have never come across a vid of it, so it just made sense.
Well Rob, Here is what I know. The truck has 192K miles on it, and the PO told me that it was overheated and rebuilt and a new turbo installed, but had no receipts. I somehow overheated it doing a new radiator, water pump and t-stat, I think, because a week after that I hydrolocked the motor and blew a HG. I just pulled it apart and both heads were cracked. So, On the motor 192K on bottom rebuild? on the top end rebuild when the video was shot about 10. It did have fel-pro head gaskets and other gaskets when I pulled it apart, and a rebuilt pump and all the injectors pop tested good, so I am pretty confident that the motor was rebuilt as stated.
Not a chance Ford, but you already knew that! I am along the lines of the guy who was looking for an IDI, because he wanted to prepare for a terrorist EMP strike, without all the paranoia! Or like someone here says, "It has the mechanical simplicity of a hammer"! LOL

Quick question, how many miles are on that motor?

Nice info,, rep added.
I wonder if these can be found in Canada, Ont.
Or if this supplier will ship via, "mail" to avoid duties, etc.
I'd like to get one, also.
I also noticed, "akamacgyver" if that was your vid, that the 3G alt you have is not the conventional "6 and 12" o'clock set-up.
You have the hold downs on the sides, did you fabricate your own bracket.
