Transmission pan capacity?

Hey guys I was wanting to drain my trans pan and refill with new fluid. I was curious what the pan capacity is. With my 6.0 I did the drain and refill every 10,000-15,000 miles depending on how hard I worked it in those miles. It always drained out bright red and shifted like new until I had a T/C failure at 278,000 miles.

That pdf. just shows the whole system capacity. I'm just after the pan capacity. I can just drain and measure I guess. Thanks for the info though.

Why would you want to change partial fluid. Doesnt make any sense to add new fluid with old. Just. My .02 worth.

I've always done this on my work trucks. I believe it works. I started doing it when I figured out that was what my ford dealer was doing when they charged me $170 for a flush. They were just draining the 8qts in the pan $40 in fluid and charging me out the ying yang. I found on my 6.0 if I changed it at least every 15,000 it always comes out bright red. If you leave it in there for 150,000 miles it will surely come out black and burnt. I do it just for peace of mind really. From what I've learned talking to some tranny builders is that the number one killer of auto trannys is heat. No 2 is dirty burnt oil. Really its cheap insurance. I got 278k out of my 5r110 in the 6.0 and most of that was running a 120hp tune and towing so I'm a believer. Just my $.02.
