Mod Help-Sorry for beating a dead horse

Hello Everyone,

Great site! It has helped me troubleshoot problems I had with my 6.0. I recently purchased a clean 2000 7.3 F-250 w/ 59,000 miles. I have my mind made up on some mods but would like help with others. Any help is appreciated. This truck is going to be my new baby and I have no problem with it being loud. Please keep in mind I am very close to Canada and have some very cold winters, as in -50F sometimes. I am going to purchase MBRP 4" Turbo Back exhaust and a Tymar intake for certain. I have my mind pretty much set on ISS Pro gauges. Now the tuner? I am almost sold on the DP Tuners. I like the high idle option for winter even though I'm sure others have that also. I don't plan to tow heavy at the moment just a 18' fiberglass boat. Thanks for the help!

I also forgot to mention the 6 speed! With that I was wondering about swapping out the pyro gauge for a fuel pressure gauge, is this a bad idea?

Any of the custom tuners can get you a high idle, if you chose to go with TS style vs DP.

I would not swap the Pyro for fuel pressure, but Trans temp isn't as necessary on a stick as with autos. Fuel pressure is a great gauge to have.

Here's a great site sponsor for parts to consider. Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts | Ford 7.3 diesel | 7.3 powerstroke | Ford Powerstroke | 7.3L Powerstroke Parts

What I've learned from personal experience and reading: Air in fuel is big problem with the 7.3L. The fuel pressure gauge will be a huge help to let you know if this is happening in your truck. I have the regular three gauges (auto trans), but I want a fuel pressure gauge as well.

Pyro is the important one. You don't want to sacrifice that one for anything. Fuel pressure is a good idea as is boost.

Sounds like you are on the right track. You will find that most of us buy our stuff from Clay at Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts | Ford 7.3 diesel | 7.3 powerstroke | Ford Powerstroke | 7.3L Powerstroke Parts All of the mods you are looking at are available on his site and he has the best prices going along with great service. Last I knew he even does free shipping on exhaust kits.

Exhaust: Riffraff Diesel: MBRP 4" Turbo Back Aluminized

Intake: Riffraff Diesel: RDP 6637 Filter Kit

Gauges: Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts: - Isspro Performax

Congrats on a great low mileage truck!

I just ordered mine and my 4 pillar to replace my 3 pillar pod. I am running isspro performax so all I will have to do is install the sensor and plug in a couple of wires. Nothing to run through the firewall.

You still have to run the signal wires thru the firewall and to the gauges, you just dont have to run ALL the wires to the gauges...

Just to be clear.

Thanks everyone for the help! I'll probably go with the 3 gauge pillar and mount the fuel pressure gauge under the dash. The more I'm researching I might be leaning more towards a TS chip. I'm just looking for the right tunes now.

Pyro, Fuel Pressure, and Boost? That's only 3 what other gauge are you considering?

Big Al, I was thinking tranny temp gauge. Now looking back I meant to say should I swap out the tranny temp gauge with a fuel pressure gauge beings it is a 6 speed. Sorry about that, I was half asleep on the first night shift back. Gotta love shiftwork!
