2008 F350 50k New Motor, Need Help
Is it normal for Ford to use refurbished short block instead of new. I recently took my truck in for motor issues. Ford repaired under 100k warranty. said 2 injectors blew and burned down #2 & #8. replaced 2 injectors, short block & 1 head. drove out after repair and got immediate engine light. Took back, tech said had bad glow plug and to return after labor day holiday to repair... drove 200 miles and down again. Had to tow home via ford. Now, on top of bad glow plug(2), also bad Injector and now has oil in upper turbo (to be replaced)...I am very frustrated and am just curious is this NORMAL?? Should they not be using new parts...I had an 03 Ford 350 with bad injectors and they replaced all of them ( at my cost of course) but with the rebuild of this motor I cannot believe that they only replaced 2...and only 1 head? The other head has 50k of wear..Any Help on how to proceed would be appreciated!!

That's all going to depend how you negotiate it. Last two times I was at the dealer, there was a gentleman negotiating a new engine in his F150. They wanted to put a refurbished unit, he wouldn't settle for anything other than a crate engine from Ford. Long story, he's had a documented issue (light clicking only after oil change) for 70,000 miles and finally the engine blew. He was willing to pay half of the cost of the engine because he obviously was able to use the truck for nearly 100,000 miles I think. He ended up getting the crate engine and they gave him a 36 month, unlimited mile warranty. He did pay half of the parts and either Ford or the dealer picked up the other half and labor. Don't know if it was a dealer or Ford backed warranty, but obviously he negotiated pretty well.

New Update!!
Ford just called me today and said that the motor they just put in (2nd) plus a new turbo and 2 glow plugs ran away with them & Blew the Motor. Service adviser stated that they were going to push for a New drop in engine. What should I do??? This is just out of hand CRAZY!! Please, Any advise would be greatly appreciated...Thanks

In-competent dealer. Call Ford and ask for not only a new motor but a new dealer to do it too.
And a 5 year 100K warranty on the motor. Probably won't get that good on the motor but never hurts to ask.
I don't see how it could of runaway from them unless it was leaking a whole bunch of fuel from the install.
