get it close, put it in low transfer, front hubs unlocked, fresh battery, DISCONNECT FUEL LINE FROM FUEL PUMP, maybe pull a few plugs if you feel you need to and back it in with the starter. i have done this and it works great when you are not on flat ground and you cant find any help. make sure you disconnect the fuel line from the pump or it will pump the worst smelling crap all over everything when all the lines and carb start to leak. Ask me how i know!!!!!!!!!

and hurry up and get that jem home. i havent been sleeping well knowing this wasnt a no brainer for you! JK............kinda.

The VIN is stamped on the Rating Plate, located either on the glovebox door, or on the A pillar (windshield post), visable when the door is opened.

But, the truck is registered by its specific VIN, and this same VIN is hidden, stamped on the frame rail. So if swapping Rating Plates, the VIN's will no longer match.

If you have to get the vehicle inspected by the polizei before it can be registered and they discover the VIN's don't match, you may have to prove in court, that you didn't steal the vehicle. Not pleasant!

But, as long as the frame isn't changed, there's no reason to worry about the VIN

Thank you for the extra tips, pulling plugs seems logical, I'm going to get the beefiest battery they carry at Costco. The Brake Master cylinder seemed seized, so I was wondering how the parking brake if any works on the F100's, is it in the drums or on a separate drive shaft brake like the old Jeeps. I sure hope the hydraulic clutch is working. I think I've got a trailer lined up for $55 for a whole weekend, but it's not going to be this weekend.

This is going to be a gift or whatever the DMV wants to Bluebook it at. So if I show them a pink slip I should be good to go. Or maybe it's more complicated because this is a Non Op vehicle?

You'll need the pink slip and the Certificate of Non-Op to register it.

At one time, there was no tax if a gift from mom or dad. Dunno about today.

I think she's getting a replacement title as she may have misplaced the original or she never had the title transferred over from her deceased father (my uncle).
If I run out of time and have to move this truck without the pink slip and Non op cert I would think it's still worth the trouble of dealing with the DMV after the fact. I'm not sure of the CHP implications of trailering a Non Op vehicle without proof of ownership.

Even in highly over-legalized, New York State, the troopers seem to be a little more leanient with the old stuff, especially when they see us old duffers next to them. You might get stopped just so they can take a look at it!

Just the site of this truck on a trailer behind my Excursion should make any red blooded American smile. I am just thinking about it. Tickets for things like moving a unregistered vehicle only punish people who can't afford to pay them.

Old duffers?? speak for your self Spur.

I did get stopped once by a trooper who did just want to look over my 37 Chev and "is it for sale?"

Ok so today I made a trip over to dig this truck out of the ground and get some better rubber on the rims. Took few pics for your entertainment. Turns out the truck hasn't moved since 1996 or so according to the licence tag. Two tire are still holding air after all this time and the two on the driver side were toast so I got some Maypops on there so I can roll it on the trailer.

That thing has a great stance! Someday you will cherish these early pics. Very satisfying to look back as see the progress! The third pic is my favorite of the set.

Any snakes under that thing?

Thanks, It's just like I remembered it Freakin Awesome!! The two tires on the driver side are smaller than the passenger side so it actually leaning a bit.
No snakes, but I killed at least half a dozen big black widows and one nasty big ol centipede.

By looking at the vin plate can you tell what size motor it had originally or any other info you guys can extrapolate from it. Thanks again for the support.

Well, I am certainly not an expert, I have been corrected on several occasions but I still continue to try to help folks as best I can. The first thing is, it looks like your truck was originally not a 4X4! The first three letters of you VIN are F10! That is for two wheel drive. F11 was for four by four. The next letter is the engine code which looks to be a "C"! That would indicate a 292 V8. It looks like you have the original in there or something like it. Here's a fun link to look at about this subject. 1959 FORD F100 Information Specifications Resources Pictures There are many experts around here that can give you much more detail than I and they should be along soon. You really should get a Ford shop manual for the truck. They are a great resource. Here's an Ebay link for a paper copy:

Thank you for the great links. As far as the 4x4 drivetrain goes, it's been a 4 wheel pull from the beginning so this must have been a dealer add on or is it possible this is a 58? My cousin said it was a 59. I will try to ask my great aunt if she remembers when her brother bought the truck. I did notice there are iron blocks between the springs and rear axle, I said to myself "neat ancient lift kit". When I was changing a tire. The U bolts go through holes in the blocks so I thought they looked original.
