OK I’ll bite…just what are we supposed to be looking at? Your 60-75 acceleration or the fact that you are doing it in second gear

In anticipation of it's arrival (hopefully today) I was watching vids all last night of 7.3's with chips. I can't friggin' wait, feels like my head's about to explode!

One guy had a truck set up just like yours in the vids I was watching last night. He came slowly rolling around a corner after installing his chip so his first run with it in. He gunned it and scratched his tires twice, with the (automatic) shift. I was really impressed!

I just took the vid to have a before and then an after. Thought I'd share with the rest of you scoundrels. I couldn't get one from a stop as traffic was wreaking havoc everywhere with Labor Day weekend and all so I slowed down and let some space open up on the freeway and hit it. I'll try that again with the chip.

I could only get to 75 before I had to slow down for traffic. I've taken her from 0 to 95-ish a few times. She gets there lickity split already!

I'll try and take a vid of that as well.

I giggled for a good hr driving around after putting in the chip. Intake/exhaust only got a smirk... Although the exhaust sounds awesome I really didn't notice much.

I understand that. I turned right on a red lt into 55mph traffic and was up to speed in about half a block. I was amazed!

I got it and I installed it!! Took her around the block in Gearhead's economy mode:

3.) 3 Tow/Economy- Gains about 40 HP over stock can usually tow up to 10,000 lbs but user should watch Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) on long hills if towing 7,000 lbs and above.

... and holy hell, what a difference in the pedal! Before I even backed out of the driveway I put it in drive just to get a quick feel and she was acting like a thoroughbred race horse at the starting gate, just eager to run. Very, very responsive in the pedal all the way through the power band. All around the truck was highly attentive and noticeably much stronger, much more crisp, cleaner.

I did also put it in:

4.) 4 Street Muscle - Gains 80-100 HP over stock and runs about 1300 degrees max with an exhaust and intake installed

...from a take off on to the feeder of the freeway, but only hit it for about one second. I thought I was about to leave my transmission on the road had I kept on it. I mean she practically grew wings and flew and I don't mean like a blue jay either, I mean like a pterodactyl...on steroids!

I don't have any egt or boost or whatever else is needed as far as gauges go so for now I'll only be using economy mode which is quite enough already!

I'm stoked!

Glad you like the tunes.

Get those gauges soon. You will be surprised how fast the EGT goes up.

I don't have a muffler, straight pipe which I'm sure helps keep the egt down, right? And how or at what rpm's are we talking that the egt's become critical to the truck's performance/life expectancy? Are we only talking redlining?

Apart from a few hair raising take offs and the frequent stepping on it on the freeway for passing type driving I keep her on cruise at the same speed she normally is, around 65-70 with the rpm's at 1800-2000. Sometimes I stay at about 75 for about 30 seconds coming from passing someone but then I slow down.

Would there be a difference in egt at the same exact speeds and rpm's without a chip and with one?
