Bad Ball Joint and Front Diff Repair . . .

Ok so this happened
<a href="http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/nemesisnj/Ball%20Joint/?action=view&amp;current=400938_4487378592243_4015 54803_n.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/nemesisnj/Ball%20Joint/400938_4487378592243_401554803_n.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

And
<a href="http://s123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/nemesisnj/Ball%20Joint/?action=view&amp;current=558979_4487340591293_2145 039496_n.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o297/nemesisnj/Ball%20Joint/558979_4487340591293_2145039496_n.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The ball joint snapped and pulled the axle out of the front diff, hard to tell with these pics I'll have more once it stops raining. Not sure if the axle in the housing tube snapped or not in the front diff. But does anyone know where to find an axle shaft for the front diff? Advanced is no help at least on the web, and I'm not sure which is which on Rockauto, I did a rear seal and can tell a rear axle, but some of the descriptions and pics are lacking. Really don't wanna pull the front diff this week and spend more money. But I'll have a better idea once I get under the truck. In the meantime, ordering new balljoints and control arms, camber bolts, bushings, and sway bar bushings all grease-able this week.

How fast were you going when the ball joint snapped?

I don't know where to direct you for a new axle because you didn't post the make, model, 2WD/4WD, engine, and year specifics.

Not going fast at all, I was backing into a spot.

Well it's obviously a Ford, and obviously an Expedition, 2000 4.6L 4WD

After waiting on parts to arrive and finding the right tools, I'll have the front diff out 2day/2nite. I'll post pics of the dismantling and opening of the front diff. And there is only on a flange on the drivers side and another 1/2 shaft in the axle tube on the pass side.

Had to deal with this first, can't get the shaft out with the shocks in the way.

Diff Opened

Luckily I just miffed the snap ring.

I think you should carve that image into the handle, it looks cool.

Alloro knowing my luck, I'll grab it every time thinking it's just an etch, and one day it'll actually be a real arachnid again . . . I'll have more pics of my progress up this week. It's slow going, cause of little breaks here n there, or parts taking their sweet time getting here. And ooh tool hunting is such a pain.

I think you jinxed me. Last night my son and I came home in my Lincoln Navigator and being dark out the headlights were on. As we pulled in the driveway he noticed a spiderweb strung between my work van and my Mustang GT. A rather large and nicely shaped one I might add. Anyways, sitting in the middle of this web was this spider with a body the size of a 1/2 dollar, the legs then stuck out even further. Man that was one of, if not the largest spider I've seen around here other than someone's pet tarantula.
