I think a few people went with 2012 style mirrors and they fit

All years all the way up to 2012 will mount, as long as they are the sail mount tow mirrors from F250's through F650's.

I think any late model will fit. Some wiring may have to be done from what I have researched.

If you need a new home for those on the 2000 let me know. I have the unwanted paddle style and need to upgrade.

The bigger issue is the wiring for the lighting. If you want the marker lights and/or turn signal indicator lights to work on your upgraded mirrors, you'll need to run that wiring yourself & splice that into your upgraded mirrors' wiring harness, as those wires aren't run to the doors on the earlier trucks, like the 2000, as the earlier trucks were never designed to support those features. Totally doable, just something you need to be aware of.

It's a very simple mod and totally worth it. The convex mirrors are HUGE on the newer mirrors. Here they are on my '02.

Are your new mirrors power folding/extending with heated mirrors? If so, I would be grateful for info on how you connected your wiring.

I have a set of '11 power extending/folding/heated mirrors, but the wiring harness plug was cut off of them. I've already purchased the '11 factory switches to operate the mirrors and know how I'm going to mount them, but I want to use plug connections so I can switch back to the '02 mirrors if I sell the truck.

They are not power folding/extending, so I can't help you there. They are heated, but I just have that on a switch.
