6.2 f150 4x4 four door mileage

If you are at all worried about fuel economy, get the Ecoboost or the 5.0L. Quite frankly, the 6.2L is the engine for people who just don't give a darn about fuel economy.
My brother has the 6.2L in a few F250's in his fleet and the only good thing he has to say about their fuel economy is that they're consistent......as in they get a consistent 14mpg no matter how he drives it. Of course, prior to the 6.2L he had 6.8L V10's, which got a consistent 10mpg, so for him it's a win.

Dont listen to these guys. You have every right to want to know what Real world MPG are.
If you guys cant answer his questions or be helpful then dont post. Its that simple.
I have heard mixed reports on all the engines MPG's. Theres fellas on here with ecoboosts that cant get above 15 mpg. So obviously the driver plays a large part.
My fathers Ecoboost Super crew 4x4 3.73 has gotten 22 mpg on long interstate trips. I think he averages around 18 running back and forth to work.
I have heard of people getting 17-18 out of the 6.2 when driven nicley. But in reality i think 15 is a good high way number to expect. And it will go down from there sharply if you drive hard.

You will defiantly get better MPG out of the ecoboost. And have a quicker truck. The 6.2 is just a monster for more of a niche crowd that is not ready to accept change.
Im in the same boat that was torn between a Eboost and the 6.2. When it first came out i was all about the 6.2 and knew thats what i wanted. As time has gone on and i have driven a Eboost. I wised up and realized it would be a way better motor in every aspect except the sound/feel of a V8.
Drive an Eboost, you wont regret it.

I criticize them for telling him he doesnt want a 6.2l if hes worried about MPG.
Telling him that doesnt not help him make a decision. Who are they to assume what he wants/needs. There awnsers provide no benifit to the OP.
And i know MCDavis is capable of more than that. Hes a good guy on here. I just dont think either response was necessary.
You on the other hand....

So that BURNS doesn't think I'm a complete waste of human flesh....
I went here for the OP:
6.2L V8 - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
To look for threads like this:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...with-6-2s.html
But since the take rate on the 6.2L equipped F150 is so damn low, it's really hard to find a lot of MPG threads, unlike the SuperDuty boys with their F250s (there's plenty of reading material for the big boys).
I feel like I should defend my earlier statement, but that'd just wizz off BURNS even more.
To the OP...good luck in whatever decision you are going to make. Both engines are fantastic choices...just that one of them is more efficient than the other...shouldn't be hard to determine which one I'm referring to.
Enjoy

I'll go along with the "niche crowd" appeal, but don't you think the last remark is a tad judgmental (and stereotypical for over-generalizing)? You have no idea why I favor the 6.2 over the Ecoboost. I have owned plenty of boosted and naturally aspirated motors (including V8's of both varieties) and after driving both the 6.2 and Ecoboost back to back for several hours (ask my wife), I chose the 6.2. It suited me better and I found it to be more fun than the drama-free Ecoboost (yawn). It has nothing to do with not being able to accept change.

I'm getting on average 15.5 MPG overall. I've got about 20,000 miles on my 6.2L Lariat now and have absolutely no regrets with this engine. It's by far the best thing about the truck...everything else about the truck quality-wise is discouraging compared to previous years of the F150.
Still amazes me to this day how people form opinions about the 6.2 without ever owning one or maybe even test driving one...personally, I feel lucky and privileged to be able to own one...
