Question about 52 ford shock mounts?

Im in the process of rebuilding a 52 Ford F1 that set in the elements for a little while. While removing the nut off of the rear lower shock tab, the tab that bolts to the bottom of the springs, I broke the nut and bolt completely off due to do much rust.

My question is, on the lower shock tab, does the stud that the lower part of the shock mounts on, go through the bracket completely and can be removed or is it a permanent stud that will have to be rewelded.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

If it's the lower bracket that attaches to the rear axle, then it's solid and will need to be rewelded. However, I wouldn't trust that area after it's been welded. You're much better off to find a good used replacement.

It's a double-shouldered stud, "may" be able to get the remains out by welding a new bolt to remains and using that to remove it. Depends how bad it is. Did you twist off the part where the shock goes, or the nut that retains it to the mount?

If it's just the bolt, then take it to a machine shop if you can't remove the remnants. If you damaged the bracket, then look for a replacement.

I twisted the threads off of the stud, so I still have a piece of the stud sticking out. I may see if a machine shops can remove it or possibly redo it for me.
Thanks for all the help!

Where would be a good place to locate a shock mount like that?

Also, I just read in a few other areas that the original lower shock mounts l not work with a 9" rear end, which is what I'm putting in the truck. So do I need to worry about getting this mount fixed? Or can I still use them if I get if fixed?

Sorry theres so many questions, I'm new at this.

Thank you so much for all the help!

The reason mine are off is that I just put in a 9", they won't work because they are curved to fit a 2.5" axle tube, 9"ers are 3" axle tubes.

The F1 shock mount is not large enough to fit over the 9" housing. You'll need the rear shock mount from an F2/F3 or buy universal mounts from Speedway.
