I have Silent Armors on my Dodge 1500 right now and think they are a great tire. Load range C and it appears as though I will get about 5,000 more miles out of these than any other brand I had. I've had Goodyear RTS, SRA, ATS and Silent Armors. I never had a structural integrity problem with any of them. Of course some models were better suited for my needs than others, but none of them were ever defective.

What did Goodyear say about your experience with the 10 of their tires? Was there a recall on that production run? Who is your supplier? Getting back to Goodyear with the sidewall numbers definately needs to be done.

The other truck that had all 4 goodyears fail on is a strictly highway truck so NO abuse there.

Just curious as to why you are using that type of tire/tread pattern for highway use?

Seems like you are leaving a few key points out here and avoiding good questions. We still don't know what tire it was, the size, how old, and how many miles were on the tires. People here use the site for information before they purchase items. Just saying all Goodyear tires are junk is not helping anyone make a decision. I think a little more info on the tires would be nice just in case someone else has the same tire with the same problem.

I agree. Lots of specific info missing here. I have DuraTracs on my truck for 10k now. While I agree they're not the best tire out there, they're far from junk IMO.

I too just got the DuraTracs, even though I only have 800 miles on mine I would like to know what I have in store for the future. I did find it very hard to find a E rated tire with a mileage warranty other then the LTX's that came with my truck.

I'm another GoodYear user. I have a set of 285/70/17 DuraTracs on my F-150 right now. I've had them for about 16k miles and they are at maybe 2/3rds tread left. I like them so much that I'm having them pulled and installed on my new F-250 when it gets delivered. I'm letting the dealer take the new tires that come on my F-250 in exchange.

Before this I had a set of Bridgestone tires and replaced 3 of them because the sidewalls kept getting cut from me driving down the interstate. I don't do any offroading.

+1... They look abused as hell, and very old.

I'm the exact opposite... horrible performance from BFGs.

Like stated....lots of info was left out. I have had nothing but good luck from Goodyear tires. NEVER had one fail. Of course...they weren't 20+ years old and beat to hell when I got them, then ran ragged...

What's your load range on those tires, Tosa? I wouldn't put LR "D" tires on a 250 unless they are no loads and not towing.... within reason!

+1. Unless those are LT-rated tires with an E load range they CAN NOT be mounted on an F250.

Huh, didn't even think about that. Thanks for the heads up on that one. I'll have to give them a look when I get home in a few weeks. The dealer certainly would be happy to keep the tires and rims currently on my F-150. Might just have to talk to them about working a new set of tires into the deal. The stock tires even on the FX4 package are just too small for my preferences.

I put right at 50,000 miles on a set of Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar on my F250. LT285/75/18E I'd argue those were the best tires I have ever run. When I replaced them, I went with the Nitto Trail Grappler.

Now that I have 15,000 on the Nittos, I can say that the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R Kevlar are better tires. The have a higher load rating. They were quieter. They got better wet-road traction. They wore better. The got better fuel mileage. The only thing the Nittos do better in is mud... and that may be because they are wider (11.4" vs 12.5").

Goodyear tires are not junk.
That statement is too broad. I'm not sure why you keep losing tires.

LT D rated tires have been mounted on super duties for years with zero issues. An LT285/75R16 D exceeds the weight rating of a LT23585R16 E.
