Nice solid looking truck. It used to have A/C.

It's got a radio and CC trim. Is it a Camper Special?

That is not a 66 Grill. Looks like a 65.

I have a Bright 66 Grill in damn good shape still on my F350.

My youngest smashed all the glass out of the gauges the other day.

I am still trying to decide if I want to part it out or not. It's a CC as well.
Yes I believe it is a camper special..
I would love to get the bright gril,,I hate the one that is on it for sure, let me know if you decide to part it out, the new ones are way to expensive and the ones on eBay are to beat up. Thanks Arctic

I'll talk to my oldest son tonight when home from school.
Than pull it out and if it comes out with out any more damage I will clean it up and get some pics.

What makes you believe it's a Camper Special? The front fender emblems as missing, could have said Camper Special, could have said Twin-I Beam.

There is no code within the VIN or stamped on the Warranty Plate that denotes a Camper Special. What trans does it have, 3 speed manual or A/T?

If a 3 speed, it's not a Camper Special. Camper Special package included a 300 I-6 or 352, 4 speed manual or MX Cruise-O-Matic.

Tool compartment was an option or a dealer installed accessory for all Stylesides, so just because it had one, does not make it a Camper Special. Case in point:

1965 F100 I bought new in March 1965 had the tool compartment factory installed, it was not a Camper Special. During the 44 years that I owned it, never used the tool compartment once.

There are no records remaining for these trucks, as FoMoCo THREW THEM AWAY decades ago. So there's no way to find diddly-squat as to how they were originally equipped.

There are a few big things that will lead you to thinking it could well be a CS truck..there were 3 different CS packages offered ...Custom Cab is the main one...CS trucks had the oil/alt gauges on either side of the speedo...sweep speedo always as CS trucks were NEVER offered in 4WD versions in either year. The bedside toolbox is a popular addition, but as Bill said, wasnt a CS only feature.
HD cooling and charging system(higher amp alt.) were a part of the CS package...the alternator would be a double sheave pulley...along with water pump and crank pulley.
There were alot of other parts that went with the CS package..but these are the main things I look for when I try to ID a CS truck or not
On F100 trucks though ONLY the CS trucks got the split rims so thats a giveaway on those trucks...

Leoman66...post your contact info, or leave a message with it in my visitor message area in my profile and I will get you more details and info on the toolbox

EVERYTHING that was available with the Camper Special package was available on all other trucks as an option with ONE exception.

This one exception is the only way to verify the truck is a Camper Special.

"Squire" Don should know since he owns a '65 Camper Special.

Don: First year FoMoCo offered a Camper Special with 4WD: 1977. And, how many F100 C/S's still have those split rims 45+ years after the fact?

The ONE exception is the only way to verify, you have to crawl under and take a look-see. That shouldn't be to hard for you to do.

Others like myself that are oversized may not make it past the rear bumper!

I think the answer is: The Camper Special (CS) optioned trucks had a wiring harness at the rear of the box with provisions for trailer lighting and a pigtail in the glovebox. Assuming the wiring is still original in the back......
