Good morning Dave and the rest of the gang stopping by!
No I didn't stay up just to make a new thread. LOL Just happen to think of it when we got home from having some cold ones with some friends that stopped by last night.
Good afternoon everyone!!! House fixing today. The grout and caulk around the bottom two rows of tile in our shower have deteriorated to the point that the tub is now leaking inside the walls. It's been doing it since before we moved in. Figured it was time to scrape all the old crap out and reseal it. I should re-grout the whole thing, but I'm not that ambitious today. I'm just going to caulk over it and call it a day for now. When we get to redoingt the whole tub, I'll fix it right.
I might even get ambitious enough to fix the basin in the upstairs shower. It's some kind of cement basin and has hairline cracks in it. It hasn't been used in over 40 years and hasn't been fixed. Everyone assumed the whole shower would have to come out. Turns out it's just hairline cracks. Found a thing called Hydraulic Cement that looks like it will be perfect. Found a reference that someone uses it to fix leaky swimming pools. If that doesn't work, I don't know what will.
Got to the main floor tub this afternoon. It's not pretty, but if it quits leaking, I don't care.
I'll tackle the upstairs one tomorrow. The cracks are soooo minimal, so I'm going to simply try some waterproof paint first instead. I've got some that is intended for keeping basements dry.
