Unhappy 98 F150 trouble on Incline

I have a 1998 F-150 V8 4.6L. Currently has about 83000 miles. I have had this problem twice now. When I park on an incline with the front end up hill the engine will not start. It will crank like it is trying to start. It attempts to idle but the rpm is to low and it dies. Typically when I start it it idles at about 800-1000 rpms, but when this occured it only got up to about 500rpms. Both times my tank has been nearly full or 3/4 full. Just put on a new fuel filter and the old one was still clean. ( I could blow through it with ease). The second time it happened I was able to roll backwards where the truck would be closer to level and then it started. I am completely confused. I want to see if anyone else is having this problem and/or knows how to fix it.

Any help is welcome.

Thanks,
Kyle

when you turn the key "on" the fuel pump builds up pressure in the fuel rail on the motor injectors. Turn the key On- Off- On several times slowly and listen for the pump to run and should build up pressure - then start....... Next there is a pressure regulator on the rail at the fire wall the relieves and lets excess pressure go back to the tank.. maybe your regulator is broke and you have no pressure when you startup in the morning. There is a schrader valve on the rail somewhere (looks like a tire fill valve). Push the center pin with a screw driver after setting for an hour and see if you have a good pressure (30 psi) or has it leaked off when setting.

Hey everyone,

Finally remembered this post. It had nothing to do with the truck being on an incline. Or what level the fuel in the tank was at. I fixed the issue by changing out the fuel pump. Haven't had this happen since I changed it out.

Good luck and ask if you have in questions. I'll check this a little more often than every 4 years
