Help! I bought all the weather stripping I needed at once. I have no idea how it came off since it was bought in piles. I am trying to install the top to the body now and the under the windshield stripping is self explanatory. How does the top of windshield to truck topper install? I am also looking for the direction of install for the pieces on top of the quarter panel. The 1/4 panel ones are smooth on one side and have raised lines on the other. The top of the windshield one has two tubes running width wise but kinda looks like it might screw to the top before installing the top. Anyone know of any place there might be a picture or a diagram up close of the proper instal method. Thanks for any and all help.
WTF, Y don't these co.'s put a lill slip of paper in w/the product...
Good 2 C another bronk on here!
I done it in bits'n pieces over the last 30 yrs so can only remember back some...last 1 wuz on the lift gate. There's some screws 2 put in on the edge (I use 3M adheasive 1st w/ every gasket everywhere). The windshield - I glued to the top & it stays on when I remove it (mine never goes on anyway, it seems). 'air's 1 for under the hood @ windshield too. I have a 1/2 cab so am a lill different than what U got...
Did U get the ones 4 the chrome inserts? That's an extra consideration...
the piece on the top of the windshield, between the top and windshield frame, is one of the ones that has me stumped. It can be put on upside down I guess. Here is a rough representation of what it looks like.
o____o OR o---o . make any sense? the tubular part has to run left to right, but I can't figure out if the tubes are up or down. Same similar problem with the pieces between the top and 1/4 panels. That piece has a smooth side and a lengthways ridged side, I don't know if the ridges go up or down.
None of my trim has the chrome insert around the windshield or side glass. Thanks if there is anyone that knows what I am talking about or can help.
Then it might not matter.
If they R a lill' further toward 1 edge than the other I'd put'em so they wrap the ws frame more'n the top. Glue it to the top w/the 'flange' down to wrap the ws frame - water travels down w/gravety (& all over when wind blown @ speed).
Make sure to line up the holes w/where the bolts go thru. As I remember they're alredy in the rubber.
Keep talkin...
No one knew so I called Jeff's back and they looked at one of his original untouched Broncos in the back. They are awesome. The answer is tubes down. And one side has some little lines I hadn't noticed before that are required to go forward. Hope this helps anyone looking later.
one of the tubes that goes down looks different than the other one in that it has two horizontal lines that go the full length of the piece. The tube that has those two lines should go forward (or be facing the front).
"...should go forward..."
still don't follow, duz that mean on the outside of the windshield - as appposed to the inside of the vehicle?
sorry
So U like Jeff's too? I bought a 1/2 cab top from them in 1987 & just about use them for everything. They had a lill stapled together (in the left top corner) 6 - 8 page mimeographed sorta catalogue back then. KS-Bar wuz just goin outta business.
sorry, I was in the Navy for 10 years and forward accidentally slips into my vocabulary repeatedly. Forward is the front of the vehicle. I meant to say the little lines should face outward (experience weather). I managed to get rid of the other words.....aft, bulkhead, deck, head, scuttlebutt, geedunk etc....some other ones still slip in.
