Thanks

glad you are ok and back on line

Swapped out the starter today, 3 days ago it just finally gave out. No amount of beating on it would get it to start again Slowly but surely she's falling apart

We had a Suburban that I nursed home (almost 300 miles) by not shutting it off or hitting the starter after I got someone to turn the key.

My Bronco starter quit last winter, figured I would hit the starter to move it to a better, dryer spot, no dice.

We opened the old starter on the parts counter to see what it looked like (the girl and I had never seen the guts before) and it looks like I busted one of the magnets when I banged on it

The brushes were toast, smelled real bad when we cracked it open and was really black inside.

Left the phone in the Bronco (actually it fell out of my pocket and landed under it) so no pics

I bought it. The seller was asking 2k and I got it for 900.

This rig will continue to move snow (but only in our driveway), and slowly get the cancer repaired. Might see a few upgrades along the way....

Interior still looks good in it too. Hard to find one without the dash pad cracked too. Congrats on the new purchase!

I've done a bunch of work over the last few weeks. I'll try to list it all out.

New SS Brake Lines, New brake hoses, New Master Cylinder, New rear wheel cylinders, New calipers, New rear drums & brake shoes & hardware, New drilled and slotted rotors & pads.
New Front driveshaft U-Joints, New front axle U-Joints, New ball joints, New Poly axle pivot bushings, New poly radius arm bushings.
Cleaned and repacked front wheel bearings with all new seals. New rear axle seals, New Ford Racing LSD carbon clutches.
New rear tail lights with retro-fit LED bulbs, LED bulbs in high mount brake/cargo light.

After the front end alignment and seating in the new brakes, I'm just about ready for the winter season.

Good to know MadMatt65! I cleaned mine up with one of those kits and it definitely helped.

But my pass. side is getting moisture in it. I'll have to look into these.

Thanks!

Changed out the old steering gearbox for a fresh Redhead from Broncoair. Steers like a new truck. Also added a drain plug to the front differential housing.

A week or so ago I switched out the old rims and tires for some old junkyard rims I cleaned up and some new tires. Also new is the front u-joints and shaft bearings. I also fixed my stereo ground wire today. Now, I can crank tunes again. She's finally coming together from an old derelict POS.
