What did you do to the Bronco Today?

I changed the oil today about 1k miles early. I wanted to put a new patch on my oil pan so I drained it, sanded and cleaned the bottom of the pan threw the shop vac up to the drain hole, applied the new patch and took the vacuum down after about 45min so I could let it set without oil trying to seep through. So plan now is to keep the pan empty til the morning to let the patch cure then I'll fill it back up.I did have pictures but accidentally deleted them from my phone , was the perfect day, hit about 55-60 degrees here and sun was out all day
So I picked up a new puller this afternoon. Get it on and start twisting. Same thing as yesterday. Twisting and nothing happening. There is just no way it should be that hard to pull Take a little time out and partake in some deep thought as to why this is happening. All of a sudden I know why.
Bone head move of the year I would say. Then it suddenly becomes perfectly clear as I slap myself upside the head with the nearest wrench. Then I pulled the washer out (which I had intentionally left in so I wouldn't screw up the threads on the crank). Had the balancer off in minutes. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Bottom of it is rotted out I think so there probably a pin hole. I haven't seen what it looks like without a patch. I had bought it with one on it. All I've done was sanded and degrease the old one and then reapplied some JB Weld. Which held up real nice.

They have a Dorman 31001 stud for $6 at Autozne.. I may grind/cut off the old stud.. drill out and then use that..
I have a Mig welder here to use.. Can I simply weld another 1/2" threaded bolt/rod onto that one (thats sticking out) & use a new nut.. and would that work?? I know the stresses are small on it as the POST itself does like 90% of the work.. and I don't plan to off road this..
