I changed plugs, and wires this morning. Seems to have gotten rid of my miss. If I can find my vacuum gauge I will tune carb later this afternoon. I do believe it has grown legs and walked off. I drove the old gal after changing things out this morn and she is runnin pretty damn good. No more stumbling, hesitation etc. Smells like its a little rich so hopefully the a/f mixture adjustment will take care of that. The secondaries seem to be comin in a little too late also. Ive never adjusted vacuum secondary canister before but I'm gonna give it a shot. If I cant help it I will take it to a friend of mine who is a whiz with carbs.

Replaced the IAC a few days back before my trip to washington, after driving about 200 miles if I came to a stop it would stumble and die. the old IAC was really dirty and I assumed it was sticking. at that point it was a guess but it seemed to have worked, 1600 miles and all has been good

A whole weekend off and all I did to the Bronco was look at it a few times when I was in the garage for tools while working on other projects.
I did make the wife happy by crossing about a dozen things off of the "honey do" list. I also started building myself a real flag pole as I'm tired of repairing the one that hangs off of the front of the house when the wind bends them.

Well this weekend was interesting. On Saturday I was heading home from work in the morning so I could get ready to visit a friend and my driverside exhaust fell off! It appears the nut and bolt that held it to my frame came loose and it dropped. I found a spot to pull over and saw that it was being dragged so I hooked my foot on one of the botls and dragged it out. Then I had to hot potato everything into the passenger side. About 4 feet of hot exhaust pipe and cherry bomb, it was fun. I ran it without the one side and today I plan to fix it. It sounded cool and was loud but it will cause trouble so I figured I might was well fix it now instead of waiting.

I started up my Diesel SAE Bronco project for the first time on Friday night (7.3L IDI). By Sunday it was moving around the property under it's own power, I even used it to pull a trailer up to the shop for wiring repairs. Still a lot of work to be done to make it road-worthy, but at least I can move it around now. First time out of the shop since 2010 so I washed it.

After a two year period of hibernation, I poured a little fuel in the carb and hit the key and was greeted by the rumble of the old 1979 351 roaring instantly back to life. It's like I had just parked it the day before.

Winter is soon approaching and it's time to brush off the dirt and grime and bring it back to life.

79 Bronco back to life

It took a lot of cranking and priming on the fuel system, but it's alive again. Now to find someone local and cheap to install my spring packs for the back. I have 1.5 leaves per side left. She bounces, a little...

I've got my exhaust all back together, it's not the best but it will do for now. I have noticed however, when driving on the freeway or plain ol city roads and I hit a dip in the road the rear seems to bounce a lot. Like I've got a hell of a lot of weight I'm carrying around. When I bounce on the hitch it kind of moves a lot but it only bounces maybe 2 times. I'm wondering if my old Rancho 5000 shocks are finally worn out.

I think when I finally do a lift I'll just but new 4" packs instead of my old plan of doing a shackle flip. New packs and new shocks, the suspension should be pretty nice.

Here's my little video of the fireup. It's got some cobwebs to burn out, but I was impressed at how it smoothed out. God I love these old machines!

Not done much of anything. Ordered some additional parts for the A/C. Accumulator, orifice tube and liquid line. Still got to get the manifold lines and compressor. Decided to get the liquid line just for due cause. After all, it's over 20 years old! Rockauto has the manifold lines for about $50.00 plus S&H. I may get the compressor from them too. Pretty good prices. Working on replacing ALL the vacuum lines. Found more old brittle plastic lines falling apart. Replacing all except for the TAB and TAD lines. Did away with all that stuff and boxed it up. Kind of at a stand still until I get the A/C compressor and drivebelt back on so I can bleed the power steering system. Still debating about starting the new exhaust project.......man I love the look of those JBA headers sitting on the shelf!! I keep opening the box and I just stare at em!!! Just ain't got the $$$ for new exhaust right now!

It's all coming together though!!! Slowly!!

I got my money back on new front axle u-joints that have been on back order for 3 weeks. I was hoping to put new ball joints spindle bearings etc on this weekend but until I get some new spicer u-joints in hand I'm not tearing into the ol gal. I may bite the bullet and install the headers I have had for 2 years sitting in my shop. Or I may say the hell with it and go fishing. I really dont want to spend the $$ on a new exhaust system right now since my Government is shut down ( Praise the Lord and Hallelujah, they cant **** money away when they are shut down can they?) So maybe I will just run open headers for a couple of weeks . It is "Thunder Beach" down here this weekend so the Harley's and Dykes on Bikes will be out in full force. You know they do say "Loud pipes save lives" . Maybe my neighbors will be grateful when I fire her up at 5:30 in the morning and Hear the glorious sound of Ford power through no mufflers!
