Yea, I saw that! It's getting that bad here too. Thankfully, it's supposed to start clearing tomorrow and humidity is gonna be coming down. Gonna have a nice weekend!!

We have been getting light rain off and on here. Shouldn't be long before the river a few miles away starts to flood the next town. I'd like to hit up the Police Department to see if they have a list of volunteers for Sandbagging at the park where the river is. It happens almost every year and people volunteer to set up sandbag walls to keep the water in one area, I wouldn't mind helping out where I could.

Well my new carb arrived today, so hopefully saturday morning I can install it and reap the benefits of a properly sized carb. I am looking forward to a (fingers crossed) 1-2 mpg increase. I also got a new spanner wrench for upper ball joint pre-load sleeve today, so if my u-joints will ever arrive I can replace all the outer front end parts. That will make 1 more project done and I can cross it off the list. After that all that is left is new springs front and rear, and new body mount bushings. Then it will be all about pulling tranfer case and going through it. Right now my tranny shifts well, doesnt have any particles in the pan so hopefully I can not worry about it for a long time.
When I was young I looked forward to the next project to have something to get my hands greasy. Now I look forward to finishing all the projects so I can go fishin!

I try to keep my foot out of the loud pedal. It hasnt made much difference. When I bought my old gal the P.O. had put an edelbrock 750 on her, which is way more than what she needs. Only time I kick the secondaries in is when I have to . Which aint that often. Since she is my daily driver now I need to be seeing more than the 8.5 m.p.g. I am getting. The last 4x4 I "rebuilt" was a 79 f-150 with the same running gear minus the erson cam, which I really dont know a whole lot about, since I dont have a cam sheet for it. It is not too radical, but is more than what I put in the 408 in the f-150. Hell I got 12 in the truck around town. I could stretch 14 on the road out of it, and it had what "seat of the pants" felt like a whole lot more torque. I could embaress almost any chebby with a 400. And pull em all over the woods. Thats what I love about a Ford. Spend more to make em bad, but get a whole lot more life out of em. The old 72 I owned had a wore out 302 in it but I could follow a friends Power Wagon with a 440 anywhere he could go, and wouldnt break anything doing it. FORD POWER BABY!!

8.5 ain't so bad. My bronco gets 4 give or take a few tenths. I was driving 34miles round trip to work and home every day and would eat up a tank of gas in a week, excluding Friday's since I seemed to be forking out $100 to ride in a tow truck home. Anyways, I was and still am getting terrible mileage. My carter carb could probably use a light rebuild and someone who could actually tune it properly (I got it running, that's the extent of my tuning) and if I can get my headers on and not leaking like my stock manifolds now, that might help getting it fine tuned. but for now, 4 mpg at a steady 45 mph on the freeway, it's a killer.

"Leaking manifold". That is one of your problems. It's messing up the air ratio in the exhaust.

Plus if you don't watch it, I think it will mess up your valves eventually.

Removed and painted the rust in the wheel wells and covered the holes with Bushwacker Street flares. Duplicolor Pacific Green paint matched perfectly.
