I just called 2 of my local companies that balace or check drive shafts. One qouted me 45 for each with a price break? since there is 2 shafts (Fleetpride) the other wamts 140 for doing it (Republic Desiel)

What has everyone else paid to have this service done?

I paid around $260 IIRC to have my rear balanced and new u-joints installed, can't really comment on a balance alone. $45 seems pretty reasonable though

I paid about 150 for mine, but they also picked it up and returned it to local mechanic for me so I didn't have to take it to them. Make sure you take both pieces .....they have to be balanced as an assembly.

Come to think of it, after reading all your lower costs... I also had the center carrier bearing replaced

While you got it out, it's a good time to rebuild it. U-joints and carrier bearing.

I live in Northern Ky. There's a place in Cincinnati that I go to. I figured you might be close to me judging by the places you mentioned you called.

Seth, did you use Action Machine in South Bend,IN. I have used them in the past and I know they are a Spicer dealer too. When I get around to doing my ujoints that is who I am thinking of using.
And a local driveshaft shop told me $65 to balance both shafts.

Please Read for update!!!

Ok I think I have found my issue after 1 year! The drive shaft has all new U-joints and greased the slip point new carrier bearing. I have read where some one mentioned to shim your carrier bearing down for les of a angle. Today I decieded to do this. Which consisted of 2 washers thick across. As you can see from the Pic. What I experianced from removing the mounting bolts that hold the actual bracket that spaces the carrier bearing down moved. Which i see that the spaceing bracket is held to the frame is attached by Rivets. With This movement that I saw it explains my periadict vibration. Has anyone found this before? I figure i would grind down and drill the rivets out and remount the spaceing bracket with High grade one size larger nuts and bolts. As I asked before has anyone else found this before? If so what was your repair?
