1999 powerstroke 7.3 to 1997 heavy duty

I have a 1997 ford f250 heavy duty with an 8cyl gas engine. I was looking to swap the engine with a 7.3 powerstroke 1999 super duty and I was wondering, first, if it's even possible, second, how many problems I will run into and how much time i would expect to spend attempting this.

If you have two complete donor trucks I guess anything is possible. You will have to swap all the wiring, transmission, complete engine, intercooler, t-case (if 4x4) possibly the fuel pump and maybe the engine crossmember. Im sure theres alot im missing but thats just what I can think of!

Its an option, I dont know if its a smart one but have you thought about a body swap instead? I have no idea what it would take to do

If you want to do it it's best to find a 94.5-97 powerstroke as a donor so it does t turn into a wiring nightmare. The wiring between the 97 & the 99 up are completely different

To do it he will need PCM, IDM, under hood fuse box, under hood and in can wiring, speedo, gas system will have to be changed to diesel, coolant system, and it has to be from a 94.5-97 PSD truck. the vans have different wiring and speedo.

Not saying it can't be done with a 99 up but it would be a wiring nightmare
