I want to check my front transfer case for fluid level, and although I have a good fit with my square ratchet, it still rolls. It looks like there is a specific Ford or Dana ratchet required....can someone confirm this for me?
My apologies..I could have been clearer..it's an '99 E 350 cutaway RV with an '96 4 wheel drive conversion. The front transfer case is where the front shaft connects to the unit (transfer case)n that in turn powers the front axles when locked to the 4 wheel drive stuff. There are two sunk removable nuts..one to drain fluid the other, higher, to check fluid levels.
Wow. that looks like nothing I have ever seen. I see a torx near the bottom. I wonder if it is a torx that someone distroyed. I guess you could shim a 1/2" extention to get it out, then replace it with a new one.
