The only times my credit card has been compromised is the pay at pump and at a restaurant...

Pay at the pump gas stations are the worst, they bluetooth your credit card information to the inside and anyone with a little nohow can get your information "over the air". It isn't always the crooked clerk.

I'm not worried about this technology because as long as you watch your accounts(and I do), it's easy to catch fraudulent activity and there is a lot of legal protection for the consumer(vendors get screwed in the *** though).
It's our new reality, it is a concern, but like you I don't carry a lot of cash on me these days, never really gave it that much thought, it just happened. As far as ID theft, we monitor our finances, or I should say my wife does (like a pitbull on a pork chop!) as close as possible. I know that it can happen and will suck big time if / when it does, but I have more immediate chit to worry about, if I spent my time worrying about everything such as that, I'b be locked in a rubber room scarfing xanax like an Ethiopian with a tapeworm eating wild rice (Lord forgive me for that) but, you get the picture!
Like you, I pay cash for convenience store items, etc... just can't seem to make myself swipe a card for a Coke and a Snickers bar. The powers that be have slowly and steadily pushed towards a cashless society.

My card got compromised while on vacation last year. The credit card company said it must have been a reader at a pay at the pump because they were able to duplicate the card and use it in Florida for some jewelry store that does not take online cards.

Anyway got a little done on the frame today.

Where's the news article headline for that, 4df150?

Can't wait to see more work down on the Bronco! One of mine they duplicated and used it at Wal-Marts all over the US within minutes of each other.

Was your cash all ones, fives, and tens? We've had unregistered pharmacists (as we call them here) pay bills like that right up $9,900 (over 10k and we have to fill out and send in a form to the IRS, so people can't hide income)

I stopped a guy and asked what he did for a living. He replied that he specializes in street corner pharmaceuticals.

Seeing as he did have any on him -- away he went.

Your story reminded me of that event.

Yup. Restaurants are bad. I rarely eat out anywhere now where the waiter takes your card and goes to run it. They've been known to copy all your info down or even copy it via stenciling real quick. A guy in the town I just moved from got picked up a couple weeks ago for changing tip amounts on the receipts as well. They hit him with 13 1st degree felonies.

I'm only the six hundreds. I learned to turn up my post count per page a long time ago.

I thought that was also a Patriot Act bit to ensure you don't have terrorists buying trucks and large amounts of fertilizer in one go with cash.

No matter what you do, if someone has criminal intent, they're going to try. It doesn't have to be a resteraunt where they take the card, they busted a ring of azzbags in Mandeville La. that were working the drive thru windows at a couple of fast food resteraunts, copying information that fast.

Anyway, anyone heard anything out of Roy? Curious as to how court went, hope & pray everything went well for Roy & family.

Wondering about that myself Steve, haven't heard from Roy since earlier this morning. Hope the guy got the max allowable punishment, still wouldn't be enough though.

It's an IRS form, what started it and who does what with it I'm not sure. Just more bureaucratic pencil pushing bs.....

I don't like that picture, Brent, apparently there are some still alive.
