2013 Has Larger Brakes
#18
Nice to see a brake upgrade. It never made sense to me that the F150 had larger rotors than the F250/F350.
Also, since there was some confusion before:
2011 Trucks:
F250: Vacuum Boost brakes
F350 SRW: Vacuum Boost brakes (gas engine only)
F350 SRW: Hydro-Boost Brakes (diesel engine only)
F350 DRW: Hydro-Boost Brakes
F450 DRW: Hydro-Boost Brakes
From 2012 on:
F250: Vacuum Boost Brakes
F350 SRW: Vacuum Boost Brakes
F350 DRW: Hydro-Boost
F450 DRW: Hydro-boost

Has anyone retrofitted the larger 2013+ 14.29" front/rear brake rotors into a 2011/2012 that had the 13.66"/13.39" setup? I am assuming its just different rotors and some caliper adapters/spacers? Looking at the other specs it appears the calipers are the same so I am assuming Ford just spaced them out a bit.

What does it take to convert to hydroboost? I haven't had a problem with the vac brakes yet but if the day comes that would be handy. I actually traded my 2012 for a 2013 and didn't notice a huge difference in stopping power they both worked great and I'm way loaded most of the time. I imagine the bigger brakes will last longer with more surface area. I'm sure the pads are no longer $60 a set but such as life. These brakes are so much better the the pre 05 superduties. Those were trash one big load and they are warped. Not to mention changing pads every other oil change.

My F-250 brakes suck! sometimes soft sometimes 'normal' It takes different pedal pressure to stop at different times with no obvious reason. Sometimes it just doesnt have enough and I think I'm going to rear end someone. Other times mild presure is all it takes. Dealer says not a problem. But I;m not happy and that is basicly the only thing I'm not happy with about this truck. Any suggestions?
Inconsistent pedal feel indicates brakes need to be bled, or there is an issue with your caliper slides.

I haven't had any issues with my 2012SD250 but when I had my 2008F150 I never liked the factory brakes. When it was time to swap brakes I had 'stock' raybestos pads and rotors put on the front and they made a huge difference. (Bought at Pep Boys)
Dealer was too high on their prices is why I jumped ship. Now riddle me this, dealer offered two options back then, Ford parts and Motorcraft parts for the pads. I thought they were the same. The Ford parts were higher with better performance rating.
