I've had dogs since I was a young 'un (born when FDR was prez), never bitten by any of my own.

I have been bitten twice, once by my MIL's Chihuahua, once by my sister's Wheaton Terrier, a breed with a nasty reputation.

After it took a chunk oughtta my thumb (left a long scar), I wanted to take it out and drown it in her swimming pool, but thought better of it.

It passed away within two years after she got it (good riddance), now she has a Maltese.

Wouldn't that truck left the factory with a swept speedometer? Keep the mirrors you have the little round ones are not enough. Back bumper is fit perfectly leave it on.

 

Hey Bill and Don.......... We do seem to have a number of the 4wd version of these trucks up here in Washington state. Probably alot to do with the large agricultural area east of the Cascades and all the Timber and forrest industry west of the hills. Well I havent quite learned my lessons completely about this vintage of Ford factory 4wd but I do know that once the two Im restoring are done no others. Unless a cupcake like the one TA455HO falls into my lap. That is one great score as far as these trucks go. It would not be to hard to convert to a FE just need the parts out of a F350 or a few sizes bigger truck and your V8ed. My 63 will be a punched and stroked up 360 FE as good or if not better than a 352 that I now run in my 65. If you need any help or if I can answer any questions feel free to give me a shout. Back to what your truck came stock with if it were me I would stay with the 300 six popper and look to get some higher gears in the front and back. My 65 doesnt do to bad on gas with the 352 and 3.50 gears front and back. High enough to run on the hiway and just low enough to use to do some hauling and pulling if needed. Its 2 barrled right now with a 30 over bore and some flowtech headers running into a flowmaster monster truck muffler. I have to put a tach on it to see what kind of revs Im turning out on the hiway at 60 and 70mph. By just listening to the motor id doesnt sound like its reving to high or straining and lots of pedal left to go faster if needed.Im going to check the milage one of these days just for giggles. Im sure running the same gearing as my 65 and a worked up 300 you should get some fair mpg yourself.

 

No sweep gauge cluster. The 4wd in 3/4 and most 1/2 tons came with the round gauges. The only one Im not to sure on would be the 66 1/2 4wd. It was its own one off Ford line 4wd. I suppose if the truck was ordered in with options someone could have had one installed. Both of my 4wds were DSOed with lots of numbers and had round gauges. An option for 65 and 66 was the Westcoast Jr mirrors thats what I put on my 65 and they work well for rear viewing.

 

'66 1/2 ton 4X4 Custom Cabs had sweep speedo's.

 

Here's a picture of the tailgate. It was stored inside the camper closet so no major damage or rust. The original Wimbledon White paint could practically be used for a color match. Paint code M on the build sheet. They lost one of the two tailgate brackets and all but one bolt since the tailgate was never on.

 

just as nice as the one for my truck! it was stored inside a house rapped in cardboard and plastic for 30+ years

 

I traded a 66 F250 for this box cab and gate over 20yrs ago. The gate was sitting out side but not seeing any road time. Straight gates for these long wrong beds are hhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrdddddddddddddd to find in any kind of desent shape. Ive passed up 2 of them in the north p & s in the last month as they needed to much work.

Sweeeet lookin ride,,,, I personally would keep the 300 I6,,,, such a great motor,,,, rebuild it,, nice cam,,, Offy 4bbl intake, Hedman dual-oulet headers,,,, would be a great driver,, you could go to 255/85/16's,, a nice tall/skinny 33.5" keep your RPM's down a bit,, probably even 35's and still have plenty of go! But it depends on your uses!!

Great find, looks super solid. I have 4.56s in my truck also and run the 255/85/16s and find them to be a good fit in the wheelwell, not too big or small. Find yourself an old camper and you've got it made.

ND, Do you really have 5 bassets? Forget the paper towels you must need to follow them with a mop for all that slobber. I had one when I was a kid. Hound dogs and old trucks, what could be better...

Those are some clean looking tailgates. Bill W, I looked at your garage and that '63 looks like it has come a long way. Good work there. Looks great.

I like the ideas of keeping the 6. Always loved an Offy manifold. My Uncle used them in his midget racecars. (no jokes, please)

Here's a scan of the original invoice. One of the interesting "options", if you will, on this truck is the 550 lbs overload springs.

I just looked at some of the pics...I have a Styleside gate...or 2...LOL...Ive got more gates then most wrecking yards that are good...LOL...been lucky with some scores over the years...As for the window sticker...Van Cleve is still in business...I also have a build sheet and based on some homework ive done, i can decode much of it for you as well...Email me when you get a chance...

If (wish) it were mine, I would give it a bath in side and out, and polish and wax ALL the original paint. The paint still has alot of shine left. Can you post lots more pictures, thank you.
