Here's a preview of the bed wood. I am starting to get the first couple boards cut and fit.

Yes! The 2nd board is for the same spot on the opposite side. I just put them together there to showcase the wood a bit better.

Congrats!
Man the photoshopping on that is junk. Couldn't even be bothered to match the perspective on anything, particularly the ground, let alone the light and colour profile. And the direction of the shadow is going the wrong way for good measure. "Do the job right" indeed.

The wood looks sweet, but I still like the stamped metal. I still need to take the bed off and repair mine... just don't see ti many with the metal floors anymore.

Hey Nick,
That looks great! I don't think I've seen anyone use walnut on their beds... looks terrific.
How did you choose your wood?

Basically because my dad had it! He had a walnut tree rough cut years ago from a job site that he worked on. The boards have been sitting in the basement for probably close to 30 years and my dad said I should use them for the bed wood.

The boards should be dry by now!

Boards are all cut width wise. Just need to trim them length wise and decide on what finish I am going to out on them. Right now I am leaning towards natural with a spar varnish satin clear coat. Still messing with some different stains though.

Room for growth haha. I went with these wheels tubs because they are bolt on. They are meant for a 1960 chevy fleet side. Down the road if I went to get crazier with power, I will have room for some extra tire. There is room back there for a 20 inch wide tire!

I think the natural color of the wood blends in well with the patina of the bed. And are you going to do the faux-tina on the wheel tubs?
