So i started experimenting a bit with the fauxtina on the doors. I think it is coming out pretty good. Just have a bit more blending to do to make look a little more authentic. I also painted the interior side of the doors just a normal red. Now that the doors are painted, I can start on the door seal and window seals when I get time. I have the doors off so that I can work inside in the heat when it starts to get cold out.

Been doing some work the last few weekends. I got all of my wires for the lights run and fastened where they need to be. When I get my head lights and tail lights, I'll just have to hook up the wires and I'll be god to go. I also got my gauge cluster pretty much done. For anybody that didn't follow that thread, I used new auto meter gauges and made my own gauge faces on adobe illustrator to look similar to the original gauges. Today i just got my spot light working. The glass lens somehow broke in half over night so I will need to find a new one. Does anybody know where I could find one?

Tell me Nick, was your spotlight in the truck when you bought it did you install it?

If you bought it, is it new or did you buy an old one?

I sort of want to put a spotlight on my 55 F350 but am not too crazy about drilling a hole in my A pillar. Also unsure if the handle would be in the way of the steering wheel....

It looks like a Unity spotlight. Go to the Unity website.

If it's a Unity spotlight, they usually have a sealed beam bulb (just like a headlight). NAPA has them. Spotlight bulb GE #4535 (6v) or 4435 (12v).

Those gauges look great, Nick. They also appear to be much better lit than the 6V mood lighting on the stock units.

As for the spotlight lens, there are usually a pile of used units at every swap meet I've ever attended. Unlike Ross, I've mostly seen those with replaceable insert bulbs with fixed lenses. Interestingly, a CL search found a NOS unit: https://racine.craigslist.org/pts/5881583775.html

truck is lookin' good

Nick,

Pardon my forwardness but I love the look of your cluster, (instrument wise).

The faux finish looks to be a bit of work. I remember seeing a couple of articles on recreating that look in some trade magazines a few years back.

Mechanically , it looks like you are just about there.

Tom

The truck had a spotlight in it when I bought it. This one I am using i bought at an auction though because the one that cam with it had a mopar crest on it while this one says ford. I couldn't find anything on their website as far as parts for vintage lights go, but I'll give them a call this week sometime.

This one has a removable bulb with a separate lens.

Thanks! I'll have to keep my eye out once swap meet season starts up again in Michigan.

Go here at Unity for vintage parts and complete spotlights, Vintage

Does the handle interfere with your dash or steering wheel? Although a 53-55 would be different.

I'll have to take a look tonight when I get home. I remember when I had the doors on, there was barely any room to rotate the spotlight. I dont remember if it was the dash or steering wheel that it hit though. This one I have is also a bit longer than it needs to be.
